Hailing from the historic city of Brno in the Czech Republic, FK BRNO of the Italian Firearms Group offers purpose-built pistols custom-designed for the proprietary 7.5 FK cartridge system.

The handguns and unique cartridge are meant specifically for long-range performance.

Offering controllable recoil, the FK 7.5 round is manufactured for the company’s lineup of “engineering-forward” pistols, such as the FK BRNO PSD. These are not your standard range plinkers, with the single-action pistol customized to offer rifle-like ballistics and precision from a short-barreled handgun platform.

The FK BRNO PSD uses a tilting-barrel, positive-lock mechanism with a patented recoil-attenuating system designed to handle the punchy, bottlenecked 7.5 FK cartridge, aka 7.5x27mm.

While the FK BRNO PSD is a multi-caliber shooter that can be had in more common chamberings like the ubiquitous 9mm Luger and potent 10mm, it really shines in the sporting market with the long-range FK 7.5. The gun can be configured to run other calibers with alternative barrels.

We’ve covered this “RoboCop”-worthy rocket launcher before, but the gun deserves a second look now that the original design has passed its 10-year anniversary. Is it pricey? Yes, but that is the toll for highly unique and refined things like the FK BRNO PSD.

The zippy 7.5x27mm can push velocities close to 2,000 fps, and the high-pressure chambering requires a unique platform for flat-shooting results at long ranges. We can all but guarantee that a shooter with the FK BRNO PSD will be alone on any range here in the States, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of at all.
