'MP5K for the People': Taurus Shows New RPC at NRAAM
Taurus made its first foray into the PDW space this month with the launch of its roller-delayed RPC platform – "an MP5K for the people," as marketing manager Caleb Giddings put it. We laid hands on the new RPC and the company’s updated optics-ready GX2 Toro pistol during the 2026 NRA Annual Meeting and have more details for you.
Enter the RPC: Taurus Steps into the PDW Space
The 9mm RPC uses a fully roller-delayed operating system, which offers a smoother recoil impulse and allows for a lighter bolt assembly than a direct-blowback system. The result is a firearm that is easier to control and more comfortable to shoot, especially during rapid fire.

...that folds for compact storage.
The RPC features a compact 4.5-inch barrel and ships with two 32-round magazines. Taurus also incorporated a familiar AR-15-compatible grip, giving users the flexibility to customize ergonomics.
Additional features include a rear rail for accessory mounting, integrated QD sling attachment points, and a straightforward field-stripping process that requires only the removal of a rear pin. The platform is also suppressor-ready, with interchangeable locking tips that allow users to optimize performance for suppressed or unsuppressed shooting, including subsonic configurations.
WIth two 32-round mags, you'll have plenty of firepower.
The roller-delayed pistol features a single-stage flat-faced trigger.
The RPC is available either with (MSRP $1098.99) or without ($939.99) a Strike Industries folding brace, keeping the platform on the more affordable side of the PDW market.
GX2 Toro: Budget Carry Pistol Gets Smarter
Taurus also showed a new optics-ready version of its GX2 TORO concealed carry pistol. The GX2 Toro now supports direct mounting of Shield RMSc-footprint optics, eliminating the need for adapter plates and simplifying the setup process. The best part is the upgrades aren’t increasing the price on these handguns. Taurus has managed to make of the most affordable optics-ready pistols in its class.
By popular demand, the GX2 TORO is now ready for your favorite red dot.
The new model supports direct mounting of Shield RMSc-footprint optics.
The company also plans to offer a bundled version that includes an optic, further lowering the barrier for new shooters or those looking to transition into red-dot-equipped carry guns.
It still has the same dependable striker-fired trigger.
In terms of design, the GX2 TORO remains a subcompact pistol with a 13-round capacity. It retains a solid striker-fired trigger and chassis-based system shared with the GX4 line, contributing to durability and consistency across the platform.
