Plinking on Mute with the Silencer Central Banish 22 and 22K
Recently, Guns.com announced a partnership with Silencer Central and the introduction of suppressors to our lineup. With this new partnership, I was able to get some hands-on experience with several Silencer Central cans, and one of the standouts was the Banish 22.
To celebrate this partnership, we are offering a “buy one, get one free” promo through the end of the year, or while supplies last, where almost every single Banish series suppressor (sans the Banish 22), will earn you a free Banish 22K. The only stipulation is that you have to pay for the extra tax stamp.
So, let’s check out the two .22-caliber suppressors from the Banish series by Silencer Central.
I’ll admit, I love shooting suppressed. Once I started, I didn’t want to shoot any other way. That said, it can be difficult to get started with suppressors, as the paperwork and $200 NFA tax stamp hold a lot of people back. And to be honest, those two factors kept me from getting a .22-caliber can for the longest time. I thought, “Why go through all that just for a .22?” Well, I am here to tell you that I couldn’t be more wrong.

The Banish 22 has been the most fun I have ever had with a suppressor. It is probably the quietest suppressor I have ever shot – so much so that I have used it to shoot rabbits in my backyard and none of the neighbors have realized it yet.

The suppressor is a standard sleeve design much like the other Banish suppressors. The sleeve has an end cap that is threaded and can be removed by a little key that is included. The baffles can then be removed and cleaned individually. It’s not well known that rimfire calibers run very dirty, so it’s great that this can is able to be broken down and cleaned properly. It’s constructed of titanium and is super light.
The Banish .22 is rated for everything from .17 HMR to 5.7x28. I have mainly used it on a Ruger MK IV Lite, but it can also work with rifles, carbines, and other pistols. In fact, with its 5.7 rating, you can throw it on an FN PS90, a Palmetto State Rock, or a CMMG Banshee in 5.7. There are so many options with the Banish 22.
A Training Tool
While the can is a load of fun, it’s also a great training tool. In fact, my brother and I have been using it when we train conceal carry classes on the range. Since the Banish 22 does a great job of mitigating sound and muting recoil, it is perfect for introducing people to shooting. Often, new shooters will struggle with anticipating recoil or reacting to the loud sound of a firearm.
Beyond being tons of fun for plinking, the Banish 22 is a helpful training tool. By eliminating noise and recoil, the shooter can more easily focus on technique. (Photo: Samantha Mursan/Guns.com)
The .22 caliber, paired with the Banish 22, eliminates the noise and dampens the recoil. This allows the shooter to focus on the fundamentals and technique while building confidence. With over 1,000 rounds through the Banish 22, I have been madly impressed with its performance.
Banish 22K
As I mentioned before, for a limited time you can get a free Banish 22K with purchase of any other caliber of suppressor in the Banish lineup. This is a short can, rated for .17 HMR and .22 rimfire cartridges. The "K" is a standard industry nomenclature, denoting the German word for short: kurz.

This little .22 can is perfect for throwing on your rimfire handguns and rifles. While the report is a little louder than the standard Banish 22, the short, light can adds almost no weight to the end of your firearm. This little can still makes .22 hearing-safe, so it’s perfect for plinking and hunting.

It’s a great way to get your foot in the door of shooting suppressed rimfire cartridges. Trust me, shooting .22 suppressed will have you hooked. This Banish 22K is exclusive to the BOGO deal and is not offered as a standalone purchase from Silencer Central.
Summary
We are entering a new era of shooting. It is time to start shooting civilized. Suppressors have been around for over 100 years, yet only recently have they really caught on. NFA wait times are at an all-time low, while suppressor manufacturers are pumping the market with supply.
More suppressors have been transferred in the past couple of years than ever in the United States. Finally, cans are taking their place in common use.
Thus, it’s the perfect time to start actually plinking. You know, like where the only thing you hear is the “plink” of the target. The Banish 22 and Banish 22K are both excellent cans that elevate the shooting experience and make it safer. There is nothing like shooting on mute.
