The Springfield Armory Echelon 4.5F in Desert FDE brings a rugged desert colorway to the standard-setting, striker-fired duty handgun line. This full-size model features a durable Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish on the billet-machined slide, paired with a matching FDE polymer frame. Built around a 4.5-inch hammer-forged steel barrel with a Melonite protective finish, this 9mm platform offers exceptional balance, natural pointability, and uncompromised capacity. Shipping with one 17-round flush magazine and one 20-round extended magazine, this configuration delivers modern tactical utility straight out of the box.

The foundation of the Echelon platform is the Central Operating Group (COG)—a self-contained, serialized stainless steel chassis system housing the complete fire control group. This modular layout allows you to easily remove the serialized core and swap between different factory frame colors and sizes to fit your exact operational needs. The Desert FDE frame comes in a Medium profile wrapped in an aggressive Adaptive Grip Texture that stays secure under firing pressure while remaining smooth against gear.

Up top, the slide features the patent-pending Variable Interface System (VIS), a direct-mount optics framework. Utilizing self-locking pins rather than heavy, stacking adapter plates, the VIS allows you to mount over 30 leading red dot optics exceptionally low to the slide matrix. This ultra-low mount format guarantees a clean, intuitive co-witness with the factory tactical rack U-Dot rear sight and tritium front night sight. The Echelon is the latest next-generation duty pistol from Springfield Armory with an emphasis on ergonomics and durability for striker-fired pistols while incorporating new design technologies. The pistol features Springfield's Central Operating Group (COG) assembly that allows the user to change out the frame while keeping the same serialized firearm. The pistol's new Variable Interface System (VIS) also allows for over 30 different optics to be direct-mounted to the slide without a mounting plate, allowing for easy co-witness without the need for changing iron sights.
