SureFire upgrades 2211 Luminox WristLight with 300 blazing lumens (VIDEO)

SureFire is updating its combination timepiece and flashlight, the WristLight 2211, for 2014 with a new, even higher-output flashlight. The WristLight is now capable of shooting out 300 lumens of LED-powered light.

The original 2211 had a peak output of 200 lumens, making this a significant upgrade — enough for people who currently own a WristLight to consider upgrading to the 2014 model. Like the original, the new 2211 includes an analog watch made for SureFire by none other than Luminox, the storied Swiss watchmaker.

Designed for and with law enforcement, the WristLight has a broad appeal to anyone who could use a third hand when it comes to holding a flashlight. The idea behind the WristLight was to provide a more flexible alternative to a weapon light without having to use a discrete flashlight.

With its self-illuminated watch face, the WristLight is a great tool for first responders of types, military personnel, outdoors enthusiasts and not to mention watch collectors.

Built with a lightweight, rugged aluminum body and MIL-SPEC finish, the watch light straps to your wrist using a rubber wristband to ensure that it stays in place. The flashlight is rechargeable and has a separate power system to ensure that the watch will function regardless of how much power the light has.

The WristLight has a multi-mode flashlight that is capable of throwing 60- and 15-lumen beams in addition to its high-output 300-lumen setting. This gives it broader functionality as a general-purpose flashlight as well as a low-light flashlight for reading or for when needed for prolonged use.

The flashlight is triggered with a straightforward pushbutton system that toggles the light on and off and cycles between brightness settings. The WristLight can be programmed to cycle from high to low or from low to high output settings to meet individual user needs.

For the watch Luminox delivers a classic, timeless design with unidirectional rotating bezel with timer markings, and self-illuminating tritium-powered lamp inserts in the hands and markers for always-on lighting for nighttime or blackout conditions. Featuring a scratch-resistant mineral crystal, and gasket seals, the watch is hardened and water resistant.

The flashlight is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and the watch runs on a standard watch battery. The flashlight recharges via micro-USB cable and has an LED charge level indicator to inform the user when they need to top off the battery.

Included with each 2211 Wristlight are a set of batteries and a charging cable.

At a scant five ounces, this is one accessory that can be there with you day, just for when you might need it. You don’t have to be a cop or an EMT to appreciate this one-of-a-kind utility light. The only bitter pill is the sticker. Given its excellent pedigree it’s not too surprising that it’s priced between $550 and $600.

The good news is that previous-generation 2211 WristLights are now priced around $300, so if you’re fine with just a couple hundred peak lumens there’s a solid, lower-priced option on the table.
