Daniel Defense Expands Delta 5 PRO line, Debuts RIII Rifles at SHOT
Georgia-based Daniel Defense arrived at SHOT Show last week with a range of updates to its rifle catalog for 2022, including the new RIII family, a DD5 SBR, and shorter variants of its Delta Pro 5 bolt guns.
RIII Rifles
The RIII (R three) family of fully-ambidextrous rifles is all new at SHOT this year. Available in a DD4 RIII with either a 16-inch standard or 11.5-inch SBR format, an M4A1 RIII with a 14.5-inch barrel with a pinned/welded flash hider, and a 10.3-inch MK18, the guns all feature a fully ambi lower with both left and right bolt catch, magazine release, and safety selector. They also have the company's new RIS III M-LOK handguard whose rails are modeled after DD's famed RIS II two-piece handguard developed for SOCOM back in the day.

Daniel Defense DD5 .308 SBR
Another new rifle for this year is a "thumper," the DD5 SBR. Chambered in .308 Winchester, it runs a 12.5-inch barrel and mid-length gas system with a fully ambi lower. Accepting all SR-25 pattern mags, MSRP is in the $2,599 range, plus stamps.

Shorter DELTA 5 PROs
Daniel Defense introduced its modular bolt-action Delta 5 Pro series a couple of years ago, and they went kind of long, using 20, 24, and 26-inch barrels. For 2022, they have added more compact 16 and 18-inch formats while adding an extended Picatinny base, providing continuous rail space for forward-mounted optics, and a bag rider, which extends the buttstock surface area when using a rear support bag.
