Dan Wesson Firearms Now Shipping DWX Compact Pistol
Fans of Dan Wesson Firearms will be happy to hear the company is now shipping its new DWX Compact, the long-awaited 4-inch-barreled little brother of the full-sized DWX first teased in 2019 but not released until last December.
A performance pistol priced just over $2,000, the DWX took inspiration from two flagship pistols: the Dan Wesson 1911 and its parent company’s CZ-75. The Compact model follows in its steps with a single-action fire control group from a Dan Wesson 1911 combined with the ergonomics and capacity of a CZ pistol. The flat, K-style, textured trigger will feel familiar to 1911 shooters, while the grip angle and contour trace their lineage directly to the CZ-75, long known for its comfort and control.

Ned Christiansen-style frag patterns on the front, backstrap, and Henning aluminum grips provide traction and comfort. The grip’s low-profile design naturally positions the shooter’s hand high in the beavertail for optimum recoil control. As the DWX is compatible with CZ-75 Compact grips, there are lots of aftermarket options for customization.
Borrowing the time-proven CZ-75 Compact double-stack magazine body, the DWX Compact has a 15+1 capacity with Henning aluminum base pads for added durability. The pistol also features a night front sight and fixed Battlehook rear. A DLC (Diamond Like Coating) protects exterior metal surfaces from wear and corrosion, and the reversible mag release and available left-handed safety offer ambidextrous function.
Buyers can expect “a modern pistol with the finer points of a classic 1911 built, like every Dan Wesson, with quality materials and parts and finished with attention to detail,” according to a Tuesday news release from Dan Wesson.
