On this week’s episode of "Two Guys One Gun," the crew discusses the Browning Hi-Power, truly a handgun ahead of its time. The original design was first drawn up by the legendary John Moses Browning but unfortunately was not finalized until after his death.
The Hi-Power nearly doubled the capacity of the standard handgun of the time, all while having a simple and rugged design. This 9mm served as the standard issue handgun for almost 50 countries across the globe and is most notably still in service in Australia, Canada, and India.
The Hi-Power was also one of the few firearm designs that saw service with both the Allied and Axis powers during World War II, as it was used extensively by the Canadians and the Nazis.
While popular with militaries and police forces around the world, this new age semi-automatic also found itself on the big screen. The Hi-Power was the handgun of choice for detective Axel Foley in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, solidifying its spot in late 20th-century action films.
Whether it is military history or pop culture, the Hi-Power has a storied past and was one of the most successful handguns of the 20th century. So, sit back, relax, and listen to the boys nerd out over one of their favorite handgun models.
