SHOT Show 2024 Live-Fire Range: New Gun Highlights
We just got back from the live-fire range kicking off SHOT Show 2024 in Las Vegas where we got some trigger time with this year’s new guns. Thousands of shooting enthusiasts and members of the firearms media are in Vegas too see this year’s newest rifles, carbines, handguns, and shotguns.
There are some clear trends emerging this year between new lightweight bolt rifles, increasingly advanced suppressors, and the return of some classic designs. We’ve got a ton more coming for you as we hit the showroom floor in Vegas this week, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, here’s a look at some of the cool new guns we got to range test already.
Carbines & Rifles

Now here’s a gun that could make even an infamous gangster like Bugs Moran smile. Diamondback’s new DB9R TG-Nine boasts walnut furniture to give it the looks of a classic Tommy Gun in a modern AR-style update that can host a 50-round 9mm drum.
Winchester introduced its new Ranger .22 LR lever action. It’s an addition that’s already bringing smiles to America’s plinking fans.

In a very exciting development for fans of action movies and the beloved – though pricey – MP5, Military Armament Corporation has introduced its own affordable roller-locked 9mm clone in the form of the MAC-5. These guns were just announced and will come in two flavors. There will be your standard MAC-5 pistol with an 8.9-inch barrel and a trimmed MAC-5K with a 5.8-inch barrel.

B&T never disappoints with its compact and refined firearms, and the very compact APC9 line is suppressor ready with familiar AR-style controls. There’s even an extra-small variant to be had in the APC9K Pro series.

A CZ Scorpion chambered for .22 LR? Yes, please! We got a glimpse of this gem on the range, and it instantly went on our wish list for testing in 2024. We already loved the 9mm CZ Scorpion we tested a few years back, so a plinking version in the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 is more than welcome anytime on the range with us.
New Lightweight Bolt Guns

Savage has doubled down on its M110 Ultralite with a decked-out Elite version. Built to match the conditions of extreme outdoor trekking, the Ultralite Elite offers power with just around 5 pounds of weight.

The Savage M110 Ultralite Elite features a carbon-fiber-wrapped stainless-steel barrel from Proof Research, folding stock, and diamond-fluted bolt.
Shadow Systems’ suppressors were a hot item for shooters on the range.

Carbon Research’s ultralight suppressors (top) were also a hit, and Savage joined the quiet game with its AccuCan on the bottom.

Silencer Central went extra small with its lightweight Banish Speed K suppressors. These featherweight cans are beyond compact and come in at under 1 pound.

Commemorating 75 years of manufacturing, Ruger rolled into SHOT Show 2024 with a commemorative 75th Anniversary Ruger Mark IV. As a quintessentially Ruger pistol that has brought joy to generations of shooters, that seems like a pretty fitting tribute to us.

Diamondback had its new .357 Magnum SDR revolver on the shooting line. Coined the Self-Defense Revolver for its size and power, this small hand cannon is one of the lightest single-action/double-action six-shot .357 Magnums on the market at just 1.3 pounds.

Kimber now offers its KDS9c pistol with a rail frame for those looking to add lights and lasers.

Kimber also gave its EDC gun lineup a tactical upgrade with the R7 Mako Tactical. Options include an optics-ready and optics-installed version.
In a throwback that’s near and dear to our hearts, Military Armament Corporation debuted its new Inglis Hi-Power L9A1 pistols. It’s great to see new life coming to the Hi-Power line recently.

Tisas showed up with a new budget-friendly offering in the 2011 category. 2011s are another class of semi-auto pistols seeing a lot of growth recently.
