Colt, CZ Merger Good for Business Both in U.S. and Europe
While attending the IWA Outdoor Classics show in Germany recently, Guns.com met up with Colt to see how things are going since its recent acquisition by CZ.
The storied Czech gunmaker picked up the iconic American brand in 2021 as part of a mixed cash-and-stock transaction that left the new Colt CZ group in its wake. Since then, the group, employing some 2,000 worldwide, unsuccessfully attempted to purchase Vista Outdoor's ammo brands before opting to acquire Czech ammunition manufacturer Sellier & Bellot earlier this year.

So, what does this mean for Colt?
Speaking with company reps at IWA, we got a feel that the European market is extremely excited to have Colts available in the "Old World" in higher quantities through CZ's distribution channels – which translates to more job security in the company's plant in West Hartford, Connecticut, where production remains. Keep in mind that the company continues to win U.S. Army contracts as well as introduce new products such as the CBX rifle, which uses a bolt with technology drawn from the proven CZ 600 series rifle.
Further, CZ has been able to move forward with upgrades to Colt's machinery and implement improved processes, which should translate to continuous improvement in Colt's products. That should be good news to Colt fans everywhere.
