Colt’s Manufacturing brought a trio of new wheelguns to the NRA Annual Meetings in Dallas over the weekend, including offerings in both .357 and .44 Magnum.

The new guns, all double-action/single-action six-shooters with a stainless-steel finish, continue to flesh out Colt's now-robust modern revolver line.

Grizzly

A beefy full-lug .357/.38 with a top vented rib and adjustable rear sights, the Grizzly is ideal for tough outdoors treks while its smooth, unfluted cylinder and classic styling make for an attractive gun.

...and Hogue Overmolded rubber grips help mitigate the recoil on this all-steel bruin.

The name recalls a short run of 999 guns made by the Colt Custom Shop in 1994 using a King Cobra frame with a Magna-Ported 6-inch Python series barrel.

MSRP on the new Colt Grizzly in .357 Magnum is $1,599.

Kodiak

Much in the way the circa-1994 Colt Grizzly .357 Magnum has been rebooted for 2024, Colt has reached back into its catalog and reintroduced the Kodiak. The original Kodiak, a limited-run .44 Magnum that was built by the Colt Custom Shop in 1993 on the Anaconda series frame, has always been highly collectible.

The new Colt Kodiak, like the new Grizzly, comes with Hogue Overmolded grips, a ported barrel, adjustable target sights, and an unfluted cylinder.

Viper

One of the rarest of Colt's "Snake Guns" was the very Police Positive Special-ish Colt Viper that was made in 1977 in ridiculously small numbers. The original Viper, chambered in .38 Special, used a smallish D-series lightweight alloy frame that had grips similar to the Colt Detective/Cobra and was only offered in a blued or nickel finish.

Bringing the name back after a 47-year break, the new Cobra is much more robust, being an all-stainless-steel gun chambered in .357 Magnum.

Still, Colt has reduced the bulk and dropped the weight by using a distinctive half-lug barrel without a top rib that gives the modern Viper a fighting weight of about 27 ounces – putting it in the everyday carry category.

The one-piece barrel has a recessed target crown, while Colt has given it a set of fixed U-notch rear sights and a more traditional set of walnut grip panels.

The Viper will be available in both 3-inch and 4.25-inch variants

The MSRP on the new Colt Viper .357 Magnum revolver will be $999.

Beyond the three new (to the 21st Century) Colt wheelguns, the resurrected Python line now has several additional barrel lengths for this year including 2.5-inch, 5-inch, and 8-inch formats.

It seems as if Colt is returning to its wheelgun roots.
