Springfield Armory on Tuesday announced the latest addition to its growing clowder of Hellcat series micro-compact 9mm pistols, with the model arriving with an integral compensator.

The new Hellcat Pro Comp OSP uses a single port on the top of the hammer-forged barrel that, when the pistol is fired, redirects gas upward through a corresponding port on the slide top. This, according to Springfield, effectively reduces muzzle rise and enhances control, allowing for more accurate follow-up shots.

Beyond the compensator, the new pistol retains all the standard features of a Hellcat Pro, including an onboard Picatinny accessory rail, 6.6-inch overall length, Tactical Rack U-Notch rear sight system balanced by a Tritium/Luminescent front post, and a four-lug/two-screw Shield RMSc pattern optics footprint. This also provides a more streamlined option short of the company's Hellcat Rapid Defense Package, which includes an indexing compensator.

"The Hellcat Pro was designed to deliver full-size performance in a concealable, EDC-ready package with unmatched ergonomics," said Steve Kramer, Springfield’s VP of Marketing. "Now with the Hellcat Pro Comp, shooters have a new option that combines advanced performance with ease of concealability."

The Hellcat Pro Comp OSP has an MSRP of $699 and ships in a double-zipper case with both a 15-round flush and a 17-round extended magazine, while 10-round variants are available to those who live in more freedom-restricted locales. Of note, this ask is a good bit cheaper than the $899 Hellcat RDP or SIG P365 XMacro Comp.

Dave Blanton, aka The Humble Marksman, has an in-depth review below on how the new comp'd Hellcat works compared to the standard Pro model.
