Good things come in small packages at Bergara, with excitement building around a pair of premium rimfires. The newbies take center stage at Bergara’s SHOT Show 2025 booth in Las Vegas. While previous years showed impressive additions to the company’s centerfire rifle lines, 2025 is the year of micro precision.

Bergara’s BMR-X series hits a sweet spot for both discerning target shooters and hardcore small game hunters. Both BMR-X Steel and BMR-X Carbon will be immediately viable options for the rapidly growing rimfire competition circuits.

Let’s check them out.

The BMR-X debuts as a premium bolt-action rimfire.  The newbie’s foundation is the company’s scaled-down Bergara Micro Rimfire action. Stocks are inspired by the company’s BXR design, with the BMR-X offering an adjustable length of pull, a vertical grip, a flat forend, and many of the same overall metrics and feel as the company’s full-sized centerfire precision rigs. That’s not only appealing as a training piece but even more so as a standalone gem.

The BMR-X uses a match chamber, 30-MOA optics rail, threaded barrel, and externally adjustable Bergara Performance Trigger. That trigger uses an externally adjustable screw, making it simpler for shooters to modify to their preferred pull weight. Two distinct variants – Steel and Carbon – are launching simultaneously.

Both will be available in a trio of chamberings: .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .17 HMR. A pair of BMR slimline magazines in both 5- and 10-round capacities are included with each rifle, regardless of variant.

BMR-X Steel: version is marketed to competitive shooters and the most serious plinkers. This one wears a No. 6 heavy steel barrel. The weight and build of the barrel keep it in the conversation for rimfire competitions.

The more vertical grip design is intended to reduce torque from the shooter’s hand, ultimately minimizing movement and helping to keep groups tight downrange. The flat forend helps enhance bench stability as well, which highlights the rifle’s appeal for shooting off a bench.

The BMR-X Steel shows an advertised empty/unscoped weight of 6.6 pounds with an MSRP set at $719.

BMR-X Carbon: The Carbon, meanwhile, aims for lighter weight and portability for hunters more concerned with having a rifle that is handier to carry. Most other features remain the same, but the BMR-X Carbon swaps out the steel barrel for an 18-inch lightweight No. 6 carbon-fiber barrel.

The setup shaves roughly a pound of weight, with the BMR-X Carbon checking in at 5.7 pounds. Retail pricing is set at $819. While that’s an even $100 higher in retail cost, the Carbon is still one impressive-looking and feeling rimfire.

Bergara is certainly not turning its back on longstanding centerfire rifle offerings. In fact, the 2025 catalog shown at SHOT proves that. The following will return for another year.

Final Thoughts

Though we’ve yet to pull the trigger on the BMR-X rimfires, if they’re anything like earlier Bergara precision-level rifles, they’re sure to impress. The company continues building its strength in the hunting-meets-precision market while still maintaining hunting rifle options for the workaday shooter.
