By now you are probably familiar with PSA’s SHOT Show concept voting, but if you’re not, the company has a unique way of deciding which products to make next. Each year, SHOT Show attendees are asked to choose the concepts that PSA will bring to life over the next year.

The company brought so many new products to SHOT Show 2025 that we had to split coverage between multiple articles and videos. Here are Palmetto State’s new pistol concepts.

PSA X5.7

The PSA X5.7 is not new. In fact, it was our top-performing article of 2024. But PSA is getting closer to production. This handgun is eerily similar to the H&K MP7, only chambered for the 5.7x28 cartridge. In a real PDW style, this firearm has a deployable brace, feeds from 40-round PSA Rock-pattern magazines, and features lots of tail space for attachments.

In a few changes from last year, the design now features a polymer lower and aluminum upper, as opposed to the original all-polymer design. This increases the durability and rigidity, which is especially important for maintaining zero on optics and lasers.

There's now an aluminum upper with a modular lower rail.

The upper now features integrated Glock-pattern sights that are built into the monolithic top rail, giving the user sights right from the factory. The lower rail is now modular, allowing the user to swap between rails, M-LOK, or integrated grip sets. The lower features a slide stop and a safety, both new this year. The charging handle is a Radian Raptor, and there is an integrated collapsible brace.

The slide stop and safety are both new this year.
PSA will sell the X5.7 with or without the collapsible brace.

PSA will only sell this as a pistol, with or without the brace. Users can then decide if they want to SBR the platform.

PSA X9

With the success and hype of the X5.7, one of the top comments from customers was that they wanted a 9mm version. So, with the feedback and some minor design differences, enter the PSA X9. This gun gives almost B&T TP9 vibes, which is funny because the X9 uses B&T 9mm pattern magazines since they are reliable, durable, and readily available.

PSA introduced the X9, a 9mm version of the X5.7, in response to popular demand.
The X9 features a folding brace instead of the collapsible one on the X5.7.

There are two major differences between the X5.7 and the X9. The first is that the X9 will feature an ambidextrous side charging handle rather than the AR-style charging handle of the X5.7. The second is that this platform will have a folding brace instead of a collapsible brace. This actually gives the user a lot more options when it comes to brace accessories.

Sabre 11

The Sabre 11 is a double-stack 9mm 1911 with a chance to join the extensive line of PSA handguns. The Sabre 11 features all billet internals and has tight tolerances with high-quality, hand-fitted parts, as the company strives to bring an accurate and reliable double-stack 1911 to the market.

It's exciting to see PSA stepping into the double-stack 1911 game with the Sabre 11.
PSA promises the Sabre 11 will be the best value you can find in a handgun of this quality.

All slides will be RMR cut from the factory, allowing the user to add an optic to the slide. The handgun features a stainless-steel bull barrel. This will not be PSA’s cheapest handgun, but the company stresses that the value that you will get from the factory will be better and more affordable than anything else on the market.

Welrod Concept

The next PSA concept gun is a real throwback. The PSA Welrod Concept comes from the original Welrod, a single-shot suppressed handgun that was chambered in 9mm and .32 ACP. The original handgun was derived from Station IX, a British special operations group, and the name comes from the organization’s base city, Welwyn, combined with the British slang term for a gun, “rod.”

The Welrod Concept is a throwback to a suppressed WWII British spy pistol.

This single-shot handgun design acts similar to a bolt action. The design was used by British SOE and American OSS, both clandestine special warfare units. Since the action does not move like a traditional semi-auto handgun, the design is very quiet with its integrated suppressor.

PSA’s Welrod is slightly different. Chambered in .45 ACP, it feeds from 1911-pattern magazines. This is an advantage as the .45 ACP round is often naturally subsonic. The PSA Welrod also features a rotating bolt; however, it is a straight-pull action and there is no twisting or turning to lock the bolt as on the original design. This allows the user to be faster when firing.

There are a few modern flairs, including an optic cut and a rail for mounting something like a flashlight. The pistol itself will be manufactured by PSA and sold as a pistol, while it is designed to fit with an AAC Tyrant 45, which will be sold separately.

This is such a cool concept, and it’s amazing to see the innovation that PSA has put into these handguns.
