Winchester Ups the Ante for SXR2, Ranger, & Model 70 Rifles
The new year didn’t bring about any major product launches from Winchester Repeating Arms, but the company was clearly busy with serious upgrades to existing families. Though several shotgun lines received fresh finish options, it was the rifle lines getting special treatment for 2026. Here’s what we found at Winchester’s SHOT Show 26 booth in Las Vegas, Nevada.
SXR2 Line Extensions
Winchester’s young autoloading centerfire rifle family is expanding. The SRX2 gas-piston-driven repeaters feature a light aluminum alloy receiver, fixed rear sight, and detachable box magazine. A seven-lug rotating bolt locks to the barrel, and the self-adjusting gas pistol operating system works to reduce felt recoil while maintaining reliability.

The Field wears satin finish Grade 1 walnut stocks with line checkering and non-reflective matte bluing.
Both the SXR2 Field and Composite models were on display. The Field wears satin finish Grade 1 walnut stocks with line checkering and non-reflective matte bluing. Chamberings include .308 Win, .30-06 Sprg, .300 Win Mag, and 9.3x62, all with a 22-inch steel barrel.
The Composite comes in the same calibers but uses weather-resistant black composite stocks. Retail pricing starts at $1,369.99 for the Composite and increases for the Field.
Ranger Lever Goes Nickel
Winchester’s young Ranger series of lever-action rimfires gets a new fancy variant for 2026. The Ranger High Grade Nickel shows a precision-machined nickel-plated alloy receiver against satin-finished Grade II/III walnut stocks. The rifle on display was quite a looker and had the attention of many booth visitors.
The Ranger Nickel, top, and Ranger High Grade Nickel both feature satin-finished walnut stocks.
Many of the same features of the Ranger rimfires are found here, including the single-screw takedown system, albeit in a dressier package. The .22 LR lever gun, with its 20-inch barrel and tubular magazine, becomes the fanciest in Winchester’s Ranger family.
The newbie retails for $649.99 and joins another looker of a version in Winchester’s Ranger Nickel with its Grade II walnut stocks.
Model 70 Upgrades
Few rifles are as timeless as Winchester’s venerable Model 70 bolt action. Through many decades and countless more variant offerings and upgrades, the heart of the Model 70 has remained a workaday hunter’s rifle. As most gun builders move more heavily into ultralights and space-age materials, Winchester is touting new Model 70 variants with upgraded furniture.
There will be a Super Grade Maple, Super Grade AAA Claro Walnut, Featherweight Stainless Dark Maple, and Featherweight AA French Walnut. One looks more stunning than the next, so it’s safe to say both collectors of the Model 70 and traditional hunters will gravitate to these modern classic designs. With these recent additions, Winchester catalogs 16 different Model 70 variants going into 2026.
