Mini vs. Micro Draco: Pint-sized AK Pistols Face Off
The AK-47 design and its variants are some of the most popular firearm designs across the globe. In the same vein, sporting handguns continue to rise in popularity in the United States. In an attempt to marry these two concepts, Century Arms has produced a couple of shorty AK pistols.
The Century Arms Draco line has always been a popular AK pistol for Century Arms, but the original Draco pistol more closely mimicked the old Krinkov, with a 12.25-inch barrel. More recently, Century Arms has expanded the line with a few AK designs that have almost half the barrel length of the company’s original AK pistol. Let's look at two of them side by side.

The Verdict: Choosing between the two comes down to size vs. performance. The Mini Draco offers more "real estate" for your hands and slightly better ballistics, while the Micro Draco is the king of ultra-compact AK pistols.
Up first is the Century Arms Mini Draco. This AK handgun features all the standard AK features but sports a a 7.5-inch barrel. The Mini Draco is chambered for the venerable 7.62x39mm, dating back to the original Kalashnikov design, and feeds from standard AK-pattern magazines.

The Mini Draco lives up to its name by offering .30-caliber power in a mini-sized AK. While images of music videos may be the first thing to pop into your head, the platform is designed to be a compact and powerful handgun that can be easily stowed. It also makes for a great truck rack gun and is a blast on the range.
The inclusion of the ladder sight on a gun this short leaves us a bit confused, though.
Micro Draco
Now, maybe you are thinking to yourself that the Mini Draco is just a little bit too big for your taste. Maybe you’re looking for something just a tad smaller that still offers the same AK features and 7.62x39 cartridge.
Meet the short, thick, and curvy cousin to the Mini Draco: the Micro Draco. This AK pistol has a 6.25-inch barrel, making it just a tad shorter than the Mini. The shorter barrel is accented by a thick and curvy wood handguard that doubles as a hand stop.
A hefty wood handguard covers the 6.25-inch barrel.
You still get the standard AK controls and mag capacity.
The Micro Draco maintains all the same controls and aesthetic of the AK pistol, feeds from the same magazines, but somehow increases the fun factor.
Summary
Ultimately, neither of these handguns is likely to become your go-to, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t fun to be had. Everyone should have an AK, so why not get one in a fun size?
Pick your poison: the Micro at left or the Mini at right.
Whether you need a truck gun, you have a music video coming up, or you just want to enjoy your Second Amendment right on the range for some fun, don’t short yourself out of the enjoyment (see what I did there?) of a little Draco.
