Unique AR Builds Get Creative to Comply with State Laws
Sadly, several states do not properly respect their citizens’ constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms. Luckily, a few companies out there make unique designs for Eugene Stoner AR-style rifles that stay in compliance with unconstitutional state laws and allow folks a chance to exercise their Second Amendment rights. Here are a few examples from the Guns.com Certified Used section.
This Aero Precision X15 might look like a crazy concept to most people, but this rifle is a sad reality for others. Several states have restrictions on certain features, often thanks to politicians who have no knowledge or experience of firearms.

While this is a semi-automatic 5.56 NATO-chambered rifle, this AR-15 style is considered featureless. You won’t find the extremely scary and devious pistol grip, there is no nefarious adjustable buttstock, and the evil threaded barrel is locked away. (If you detect a hint of sarcasm, you’re not wrong.)
...including a unique-looking non-adjustable buttstock sans pistol grip.
The rifle has a custom buttstock that is fixed and pinned into the lower receiver. This stock does not feature a pistol grip and is non-adjustable. The rifle’s muzzle device is pinned and welded, meaning you’d have to put in a considerable amount of effort to get it off. There’s also a short 10-round magazine, as opposed to the standard 30-round AR magazine.
The muzzle device is pinned and welded to the barrel.
All of these “tactical” features have been eliminated to comply with certain states that have restrictions or point systems. In some cases, you can have one or two features, but you have to pick and choose, as the rifle is not allowed to exist in its natural state.
Again, arbitrary regulations that restrict a constitutionally guaranteed right, written by folks who know absolutely nothing about firearms. But, good on Aero for being creative in working to allow people to still exercise their rights within the constraints of these unconstitutional laws.
Troy PAR
While the AR is an extremely popular design, so is the pump action. Troy has taken the pump-action concept and applied it to its AR design.
Troy took a different approach to building a compliant AR and melded a pump-action rifle with the AR-15 concept.
This Troy PAR (Pump AR) has the AR aesthetic but a completely different operating system than most AR-15s. With most regulations focused on semi-automatic firearms, this PAR can incorporate more features like pistol grips, adjustable stocks, threaded barrels, and standard magazines, since it is not a semi-automatic operation.
As a pump action, the PAR is allowed to have a threaded barrel...
Furthermore, several states have hunting restrictions for semi-automatic rifles. This gives the Troy AR even more market share. The pump action is iconic, and while it’s not typically set to work in rifles, it expands the role of this design.
...as well as a pistol grip.
Now, while this is more of an AR-10 pattern rifle, it is still AR-esque. Chambered in .338 Federal Magnum, this is the perfect companion for taking down medium and large game. The pump is smooth and easy to use, making follow-up shots quick and accurate. You can also use it for home defense – because who isn’t intimidated by the “click-clack” of a pump?
The Fightlite SCR has a tactical Western vibe that kinda looks like it belongs on the set of a cowboy zombie movie.
The Fightlite SCR features a traditional wood buttstock and lacks a pistol grip or any adjustability. This eliminates the “tactical” look and aesthetic, while also not adding extra points for states with point systems.
The wood furniture has an eye-catching grain.
The SCR is chambered in 7.62x39mm.
A few differences have been made to the design. While still semi-automatic, the bolt and buffer tube are different, mimicking rifles like the FAL or some semi-automatic shotguns with extended spring systems that push at an angle into the stock. The charging handle has been moved from the rear to the left side, since there is no room in the traditional spot.
There's plenty of room for mounting accessories on the Fightlite.
This rifle is chambered in 7.62x39mm. It still has a free-floated barrel and can mount lots of accessories, just with a more traditional rifle look. It’s sad that firearms are discriminated against simply because of how they look, but it is a reality that you have to take into account.
Summary
While it is disappointing that our country discriminates against certain designs, I hope to one day live in a world where everyone’s God-given rights are respected. These designs exhibit the free American spirit by working to still provide options to citizens to exercise their rights to have and bear arms. These are just a few of the unique AR-15-type firearms that we have in our Certified Used inventory.
