Seller Description For This Firearm

Colt WW1 Military 1911- Year 1918

The 1918 military Colt 1911—famously known as the "Black Army" variant—is a classic Colt 1911 produced to meet heavy WWI demands. It features a distinctive dark, hastily applied finish, a flat mainspring housing, a long trigger, and a traditional heart-shaped frame cutout underneath the grip panels.

Caliber: 45 ACP

Capacity: 3x 7+1 - 1x 8+1

Finish: The "Black Army" finish was a manufacturing shortcut; guns were blued without the extensive polishing of earlier models, resulting in a dark, rugged, and somewhat fragile finish that frequently wore down.

Trigger: Equipped with the original long trigger, rather than the shorter, grooved trigger introduced later.

Mainspring Housing: Features the classic straight mainspring housing (not the arched style of the A1).

Grip & Thumb Safety: Standard thumb safety and a grip safety with a shorter tang.Sights: Fixed, tapered blade front sight and a simple U-notch rear sight.

Numax Electronics USGI Replacement slide

Right Side Marking: 53397 is the Department of Defense CAGE code for Numax Electronics, a military contractor that supplied these "hard" replacement slides.

Left Side Marking: 7790314 is the standard Ordnance Department drawing/part number for post-WWII replacement slides.

Era & Origin: These slides were produced around the 1980s and were commonly issued to arsenal-rebuilt pistols, commonly found on CMP Service Grade M1911A1s

WE SUPPORT LOCAL GUN STORES

Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community.  Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state.  At Guns.com, if an FFL is part of our network, we sell THEIR guns first whenever possible.  That way, we’re helping small businesses in your community AND if they have it in stock, you can pick your gun up IMMEDIATELY – it’s how business should be done.

WE KEEP IT SIMPLE
WE KEEP IT SIMPLE

Most everything can be easily bought online these days.  But for some reason, buying a gun online can be complicated.  Most websites are poorly organized, don’t tell you a lot about what you’re buying, and leave you on your own to figure out what you want.  Guns.com is built to be simple – easily organized products, useful descriptions from experts, and support to guide you to the right choice.  Spend your time enjoying the gun you want, not getting frustrated with a complex website that makes gun buying hard.
