The Heckler & Koch HK45C is a compact, hammer-fired, polymer-framed pistol chambered in .45 ACP. Introduced as the compact version of the HK45 family, it was designed with input from well-known firearms instructors Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn to improve ergonomics and shootability over earlier HK pistols.
Key specifications
Caliber: .45 ACP
Action: Short-recoil operated, locked breech
Trigger: Available in several variants, most commonly DA/SA (double-action/single-action) or HK's LEM (Law Enforcement Modification) trigger.
Barrel length: Approximately 3.9 inches (99 mm)
Overall length: About 7.2 inches (184 mm)
Weight: Roughly 1.6 pounds (720 g) unloaded

Design features
The HK45C combines the proven operating system of the USP Compact with a more modern ergonomic design.
Notable features include:
Interchangeable backstraps to fit different hand sizes.
Ambidextrous slide release.
Frame-mounted safety/decocker (depending on the trigger variant).
MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail for lights or lasers.
Cold hammer-forged barrel with polygonal rifling and an O-ring at the muzzle to enhance barrel lockup and consistency.
Shooting characteristics
The HK45C has earned a reputation for:
Excellent reliability under adverse conditions.
Soft, controllable recoil for a compact .45 ACP.
Very good practical accuracy.
Durable construction with long service life.
The tradeoffs are:
Larger and thicker than many modern 9 mm compact pistols.
Lower ammunition capacity due to the .45 ACP cartridge.
A relatively high purchase price compared with many competitors.
Military and law enforcement use
The HK45C is often regarded as one of the finest traditional double-action .45 ACP carry pistols available. It offers:
Outstanding reliability.
Excellent ergonomics.
Multiple trigger options.
Superb build quality.
Compared to newer striker-fired pistols, it is heavier, thicker, and holds fewer rounds, but many shooters appreciate its refined handling, robust construction, and the confidence provided by its hammer-fired operating system. Among enthusiasts, it is frequently praised as one of HK's best all-around defensive pistols.

Shopping at Guns.com gives you the backing of a company that is committed to your satisfaction. And unlike our competitors, it extends beyond the buying process. Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community. Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state. Guns.com is built to be simple – easily organized products, useful descriptions from experts, and support to guide you to the right choice. Spend your time enjoying the gun you want, not getting frustrated with a complex website that makes gun buying hard.
