This seriously interesting "trombone" rifle was designed by the famous John Petersen for Big Green in the 1900s and entered production in 1912. Offered in then-popular hunting rounds like .25 Rem, .30 Rem and .35 Rem, this example is chambered in .32 Rem and is a standard-grade rifle with a 22-inch barrel. Coming in at a handy 6-pounds, the Remington Model 14 Slide-Action was a hit with sportsmen and the rifle remained in production until the eve of World War II. This example, complete with a period-correct aftermarket Marbles flip up tang sight, has a serial number that dates it to about 1931. Remington specifically drilled and tapped the tang of these rifles for the use of such sights, which were popular at the time. This specimen, late in Remington's production run of the series, boasts several generational improvements not seen on earlier examples such as the thumbnail safety and larger loading port. There is a light freckling of rust and a general patina on metal surfaces, as commonly seen with rifles that have honest field use.

This Remington Model 14 is a slide-action rifle chambered in 32 Rem with a five-round tubular magazine. A 22-inch barrel is adorned with a marble peep rear sight and a blade front sight. The blued finish on the Model 14's steel components is handsomely complemented by the smooth hardwood stock, and lined hardwood forend.
