The "D" designation identifies a particular production variation within the 311 family. Collectors generally regard the letter suffixes (A, D, H, etc.) as indicating manufacturing or design updates rather than major functional differences.

General Reputation

The 311D is widely regarded as:

Durable and reliable
Mechanically simple
Not highly engraved or ornate
A practical working shotgun rather than a luxury firearm

Many shooters appreciate the 20-gauge versions because they are lighter handling and produce less recoil than comparable 12-gauge models.

Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community.  Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state.  At Guns.com, if an FFL is part of our network, we sell THEIR guns first whenever possible.  That way, we’re helping small businesses in your community AND if they have it in stock, you can pick your gun up IMMEDIATELY – it’s how business should be done.
