Texas-based Shadow Systems rolled into SHOT Show 2022 in Las Vegas with two new handgun offerings – the CR920 and DR920P – that run the range from competition-sized guns to concealed carry friendly. The 9mm guns boast many of the high-end features that are a trademark of the Shadow Systems brand while catering to the needs of two very different audiences.

The DR920P extends the DR920 line that added full-size options last year. Shadow Systems’ new Performance model features an integrated compensator that does not use a threaded barrel, making it a compliant option for those trapped in thread-banning locations.

Built on the full-size DR920 platform, the 9mm gun muscles a 17+1 capacity in a standard magazine and will fit a Glock 34 holster. The compensator can be easily removed for cleaning and aligns without the need for a set screw or threading. The tritium front sight rests directly atop the non-reciprocating compensator for rapid target acquisition between shots.

Like other Shadow Systems guns, the DR920P comes with a host of extra goodies and features you’d expect on a performance-driven custom gun – spiral-fluted match-grade barrel, multi-footprint optic system, flat-faced trigger, aggressive frame texturing, front and rear slide serrations, and lightening-cut slide.

Where the DR920P goes big for competition shooting, the CR920 cuts weight and size for concealed carry duties. A favorite on range day for SHOT Show, the CR920 might be small, but it’s built to feel more like a full-size pistol in the hand. The micro-sized 9mm handgun offers a 10+1 capacity with the flush-fit magazine and bumps that to 13+1 with the extended option.

The weight comes in at 17.8 ounces. For concealment, the gun’s side footprint compares relatively to the Glock 43 but with the capacity of a double stack. It features a flat-faced trigger that pulls between 4.5 and 5 pounds, stainless-steal guide rod, and other standard Shadow Systems bonus features like aggressive frame texturing and a 3.41-inch spiral-fluted barrel.

The gun can be had in three models – Combat, Combat Optic, and Elite. The Combat model hosts steel sights with a tritium front, and the latter two offer the addition of a multi-footprint optic cut.
