New Beretta: 9mm Optics-Ready 22+1 Capacity 92XI Squalo Swims into 2024
Pitched to competition shooters, the new Beretta 92XI Squalo includes a Toni System flared magwell, DLC-coated components, and extended mags.
Squalo means shark in Italian. The pistol is so named, says Beretta, because its design references the "sleek and formidable nature" of the animal and is geared to "stand out in a sea of competition."
A single-action-only variant of the classic 92, it joins the gunmaker's growing 92XI, or "9211," series pistols. In addition to an optics-ready slide, slim Vertec frame, and DLC-coated trigger internals – blended with a crisp single-action-only trigger and a manual frame-mounted safety lever, needed for carrying "cocked and locked," Squalo carries a distinctive new pattern of Hogue G10 grip panels that complement a very shark-ish overall finish.
The hammer-fired SAO 92XI series 9mm pistol hits the scales at 33.3 ounces unloaded, while the overall length is 8.5 inches. Note the extended takedown lever and swappable (left to right) magazine release in addition to a Toni flared magwell. (Photo: Beretta)
The Squalo ships with a trio of Mec-Gar 18+4 round extended magazines. Beretta says they fit within USPSA rules and regulations. (Photo: Beretta)
