The AP5 is Century’s roller-delayed blowback firearm based and built on the original and historic MP5 design. Traditionally, MP5s have had short barrels. But in the new legal landscape where pistol braces are an unknown, Century decided to offer a MP5 rifle with a 16-inch barrel that should be legal where any pistol-gripped, magazine-fed rifles are allowed.

Other than the 16-inch barrel, there are no differences between this gun and the other AP5 guns. It still has a cold-hammer-forged barrel, top-mounted Picatinny rail and classic-style adjustable sights. Actually, because of the weight of this long barrel, the already soft-shooting roller-delayed blowback system is even easier to shoot.
The AP5L will be priced similarly to the other AP5s and be available in early February.
BFT74 & BFT556
The BFT74, left, is chambered in 5.45, while the BFT556 at right shoots – you guessed it – 5.56 NATO.
Century’s affordable AK-47 variant is called the BFT47 and is chambered in the traditional 7.62x39mm. It features a bulged/forged front trunnion, enhanced safety and bolt hold open, optics rail, cleaning rod, bayonet lug, and 1.5mm stamped receiver complemented with high-quality American maple furniture.
A closer look at the BFT74...
For 2024, there are two new caliber offerings: 5.45 and 5.56, which will be named BFT74 and BFT556, respectively. Everything else about the rifles remains the same. They will be the same high-quality, reliable and accurate rifles that Century Arms has been producing. The 5.56 chambering should be much more affordable to shoot and be quite soft-shooting as well.
The highlight for me from Century this year is its CA-3 offering. Century Arms was able to acquire 50,000 H&K G3 battle rifles from the Portuguese Army. This was basically every G3 the Portuguese owned.
Century Arms has 50,000 rebuilt vintage G3 battle rifles from the Portuguese Army for sale this year.
Of course, to be able to import them into the U.S., Century had to destroy the receivers and barrels. Therefore, Century partnered with PTR Industries to build new receivers and barrels.
After destroying the receivers and barrels for import, Century had PTR build new ones. The rest of the parts are original, so the rifles maintain their character.
Other than that, Century is selling these now semi-automatic rifles with all-original parts. They have the classic G3 roller-delayed blowback action. And, from the furniture to the trigger to the selector switch, it’s all the genuine article. Century didn’t even refinish the guns – they are still battle-worn as they came from Portugal.
These .308 CA-3 rifles will be going for under $1,000 and will become available in about 1.5 months, with production ramping up by the end of the year.
