Smith & Wesson Announces Two New .357 Model 1854 Lever Guns
The standard S&WModel 1854 lever-action rifle is now chambered in .357 Magnum, available with either checkered walnut or M-LOK-compatible synthetic furniture.
Smith went back to its roots with the Model 1854 cowboy gun last year, debuting the lever-action rifle in .44 Magnum/Special, soon followed by the classic .45 Colt. Now, the model will also be available starting in 2025 in a .357 Magnum/.38 Special chambering, an option previously just available on the new Model 1854 Stealth Hunter. The caliber is likely to be a popular one as .38 rounds are much easier to find – and more affordable to shoot – than .44s and .45s.
Available in two configurations, users have the choice of a black polymer and stainless-steel finish or a walnut stock paired with an Armornite finish. Each model has a 19.25-inch threaded barrel and a 10+1 capacity under-barrel magazine tube.

The more all-weather stainless-steel variant, with black synthetic furniture, has an MSRP of $1,279.
With a traditional feel to it, the Armornite-finished stainless model with walnut furniture has an MSRP of $1,399.
Additional features include a gold bead front sight, a flat-face trigger design, and a removable magazine tube for safe unloading. Optics can be mounted via a 4.75-inch Picatinny top base, while the rifles ship with an adjustable XS ghost ring rear sight and a gold bead front sight.
"The Model 1854 is engineered to blend the timeless aesthetics of a traditional lever-action rifle with the benefits of modern design enhancements," says S&W. "It is the perfect balance of tradition and innovation and is now available in .357 Magnum."
We'll have more on these from SHOT Show later this month.
