SHOTGUN: C.S. SHATTUCK MODEL 12GA SINGLE SHOT SHOTGUN, SERIAL NUMBER 1914, OTHER, CASE NOT INCLUDED, 22, 12 GAUGE, BREAK
Notes:
Vintage C.S. Brown Side-by-Side Double Barrel Shotgun - Classic Field Gun in Original Patina
For sale is a solid example of a vintage side-by-side double barrel shotgun, marked C.S. BROWN on the receiver. This is a classic break-action design with exposed hammers or traditional styling, featuring a long ribbed barrel assembly, walnut stock, and period-correct metalwork showing honest age-appropriate patina.
Key Features & Condition:
Action: Side-by-side double barrel, break-open design with functional lockup and triggers (double trigger configuration visible).
Barrels: Long, full-length barrels with a solid rib. Bore appears bright and shootable with typical light vintage wear (no major pitting visible in provided photos).
Stock & Forend: Beautiful walnut stock with checkered grip panels and a straight or semi-pistol grip. Shows normal handling marks, scratches, and dings consistent with a working field gun from its era — great patina and character.
Metal Finish: Original blued or case-hardened finish has turned to a pleasing brown/gray patina with some light surface oxidation — very common and attractive on these older doubles. No heavy rust or abuse.
Overall Length: Approx. 45-48" (standard for these field shotguns).
Gauge: Likely 12 gauge (most common for this style — confirm via chamber markings if needed).
Sights: Standard bead front sight.
This shotgun has the look and feel of a quality English or American import double from the early-to-mid 20th century. Perfect for collectors of vintage side-by-sides, small game hunting, or as a reliable "truck gun" with history. It displays beautifully and retains strong mechanical function.
Condition Rating: Good to Very Good for its age — honest wear, solid mechanics, no cracks in wood, bores look clean. A great candidate for light restoration or to shoot as-is.
Serious inquiries only. Must ship to FFL. Buyer responsible for all transfer fees and compliance with local laws. Pictures show exact item for sale.

Shopping at Guns.com gives you the backing of a company that is committed to your satisfaction. And unlike our competitors, it extends beyond the buying process. We get the FFL from your store – others make you find it, copy it, and fax it. We have a generous return policy, and handle everything – you don’t have to go back to the store. And our Rangemasters are here to answer all your questions about our products or process. We're bringing a level of service to the online gun buying experience that is unheard of.
Many online gun sales actually take away from your local community. Instead of buying a gun that’s on your local store’s shelf, most retailers drop ship it from a warehouse in another state. At Guns.com, if an FFL is part of our network, we sell THEIR guns first whenever possible. That way, we’re helping small businesses in your community AND if they have it in stock, you can pick your gun up IMMEDIATELY – it’s how business should be done.
Most everything can be easily bought online these days. But for some reason, buying a gun online can be complicated. Most websites are poorly organized, don’t tell you a lot about what you’re buying, and leave you on your own to figure out what you want. Guns.com is built to be simple – easily organized products, useful descriptions from experts, and support to guide you to the right choice. Spend your time enjoying the gun you want, not getting frustrated with a complex website that makes gun buying hard.
