The Taurus Model 970 Tracker is a medium-frame, double-action/single-action (DA/SA) rimfire revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle (.22 LR). Introduced by Taurus USA in 2002, it is widely recognized for its "over-engineered" build—utilizing a frame size typically reserved for heavy centerfire cartridges like the .357 Magnum or .44 Magnum.
The 970 is known for extremely tight bench-rested 25-yard groups, far surpassing the rimfire silhouette shooting or small game hunting requirements.
