The market has never looked better for striker-fired pistols, whether you’re looking for a micro-compact to carry or a full-sized pistol for competition.

Striker-fired pistols have a relatively simple design that uses a spring-loaded “striker/firing pin” to ignite the primer, as opposed to a hammer-fired pistol, which has a spring-loaded “hammer/weight” that drives into the firing pin, igniting the primer. A classic example of each would be a Glock 17 (striker-fired) and a CZ 75 (hammer-fired).

If you’re like me and love striker-fired pistols, don’t go anywhere. We’ve compiled some of our favorites for your reading pleasure, based on our experiences and reader feedback.

Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS

There are many reasons that you’ll find the Glock 19 on almost every list like this one. The first reason is its reliability – it doesn’t get much more reliable than a Glock

Aside from reliability, the Glock 19 arguably has the largest amount of aftermarket support of any pistol on the market. That means you’ll have more accessories, parts, and holster options than you’ll know what to do with.

If you’re looking for maximum comfort and concealment when carrying, the P365 is a fantastic firearm to consider. It comes with an optics-ready slide, SIGLITE night sights, and two flush-fit 10-round magazines. Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0

The M&P9 M2.0 is admittedly one of the ones I recommend the most, as there is nothing you’ll need to change out of the box and it’s similar to the Glock 19 from a specs and reliability perspective.

It features an aggressively textured grip with interchangeable backstraps that provide more of a custom and secure fit to your hand. When you pair the ergonomic grip with the flat-face trigger, the result is a very easy gun to keep on target.

Springfield Armory Echelon

The Echelon is the newest gun on the list, but it quickly climbed the ranks to be one of our favorites as it brings a whole new level of modularity to the market.

Not only does it feature a Central Operating Group, similar to the FCU of the P320, the Echelon also has a Variable Interface System that allows the direct mounting of over 30 optics. The slide is one of the most impressive on a stock pistol I’ve seen in a while, with aggressive serrations, a forward trench, and a flare in the rear for easier manipulation.

The MRD model takes the standard 509 and adds the FN Low Profile Optics Mounting System, which allows you to mount more than 10 different optics directly. It also comes with suppressor-height iron sights.
