Gunfire erupts during sheriff’s press conference on neighborhood violence (VIDEO)

Gunfire broke out at a nearby condominium complex as a Florida sheriff held a press conference on reducing neighborhood violence Monday.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings was in the middle of his speech when shots rang out in the crime-ridden Tymberskan complex. Without missing a beat, Demings pointed out the gunfire and carried on, local media reports.

“I don’t know if that’s gunfire or what we hear in the background, but that’s part of the challenges we have,” Demings said.

The Tymberskan complex makes around six calls for service per day, which means cops respond to that area about 2,000 times a year.

Because of the amount of violence that goes on inside Tymberskan, Demings had the news crew stationed outside the complex for safety reasons. Even still, it seems, they were exposed to gunfire.
