Buck Knives debuts innovative hunting blade system

Long recognized at the top of the hunting market, Buck Knives looks poised to remain there with a strong product introduction

coming for 2016.  The Selector 2.0 interchangeable blade knife will be rolled out in late Summer, and was the hit of the Buck booth at the NRA Annual Meeting and Convention.

Though Buck originally introduced the Selector knife system in 1990, that style had long been discontinued.  Given the rise in popularity of the modular knife market and growing customer demand, Buck is back at it, better than ever.  Where competing companies like Outdoor Edge and Havalon build knives with disposable razor-style replacement blades, there is nothing throwaway on the new Buck, as the blades are not disposable but rather, interchangeable. Blades lock into place securely, yet are easily swapped by depressing a top lever.

The Selector 2.0 is sure to change the way hunters think about their knives, as the package includes three interchangeable blades to handle all hunting and game cutting scenarios in one compact package.  The Selector 2.0 comes with a 550S drop point, a 550X partially serrated drop point, and a 550G gutting blade all quick-mated to a folding chassis.

All blades are 420 HC steel.  The black and gray thermoplastic handles are currently the only scale option.  Each Selector 2.0 also includes a heavy-duty black polyester sheath.  Closed length is 5” with a weight of 6oz.  In speaking with company officials at the Convention, it’s clear the company has plans for expanding the line even before it has hit the shelves.  They talked of adding several scale options as well as additional blade designs, including a more traditional gut hook.  Retail price on the Selector 2.0 is set at $125, with real world prices even more affordable.  Best of all, the new blade system is 100% designed and handcrafted in the USA.
